WINNIPEG, MB, Aug. 1, 2013 /CNW/ - MTS, Manitoba's leading telecommunications provider, today announced the launch of high-speed Internet service in Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation, Fisher River Cree Nation, Brunkild, and Seven Sisters Falls. MTS customers in these four Manitoba communities can now connect to the Internet using digital subscriber line (DSL) - a technology that transforms a regular telephone line into a high-capacity data highway.
"The launch of our DSL-based high-speed Internet service in these communities further demonstrates MTS's commitment to connecting more Manitobans to the Internet," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd.
Today's announcement is part of MTS's commitment to connecting more Manitobans by expanding high-speed Internet service to 20 additional rural communities in 2013. To date this year, MTS has launched DSL-based high-speed Internet services in 12 new communities: Falcon Lake, West Hawk Lake, Victoria Beach, Grand Beach, Wabowden, Poplar Point, Melrose, Langruth, Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation, Fisher River Cree Nation, Brunkild, and Seven Sisters Falls. MTS expects to turn up the service in eight more communities before the end of the year. When this latest expansion is complete, MTS will provide 215 communities across Manitoba with access to high-speed Internet services using a range of advanced technologies, including DSL, VDSL, fibre to the home, Wi-Fi hotspots and 4G HSPA/LTE wireless.
MTS offers a variety of home phone, high-speed Internet, and Wireless plans tailored to suit individual customer needs. MTS customers can enjoy significant bundle discounts when they bundle multiple services.
