WINNIPEG, Sept. 4 /CNW/ - MTS local telephone and long distance service has been restored once again to customers in Gods Lake Narrows, Waasagomach, St. Theresa Point and Garden Hill. Service was disrupted in the wake of a lightning strike that severely damaged MTS equipment at Gods Lake Narrows during a recent thunderstorm.
MTS technicians have worked continuously since the disruption began in order to restore services on a sustainable basis. Efforts are ongoing to replace all of the equipment that was damaged during the lightning strike. These continuing efforts may result in some further service interruptions before the replacement of the damaged equipment is completed. In this interim period it is possible that some calls may be blocked due to congestion caused by the reduced effectiveness of the current facilities. MTS will provide further updates as the process to completely replace all damaged equipment moves forward.
