STEINBACH, MB, March 22, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, MTS is pleased to celebrate the successful deployment of its fibre optic network (MTS FiON® Network) and the launch of its industry-leading MTS Ultimate TV service in Steinbach. MTS's award-winning Ultimate TV service provides Manitobans with one of the most feature rich television services in Canada, delivering over 100 HD channels and the Whole Home PVR service that can record and playback TV programs on any connected TV in the home as well as many other innovative features.
"We are thrilled to be able to celebrate right here with the residents who have responded so favourably to our MTS Ultimate TV service," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd. "Residents now have access to some of the most advanced telecommunications services of today and will get to enjoy exciting new services in the future."
FiON supplies a huge amount of bandwidth directly into MTS customers' homes, providing excellent support for current telephone and high-speed Internet services, while laying the groundwork for delivering new services, such as MTS Ultimate TV.
MTS held a special celebratory event at the MTS Connect store in Steinbach today. Steinbach Mayor Chris Goertzen attended along with a number of representatives from the community and customers.
As part of today's festivities, a Steinbach resident won two tickets to see the Winnipeg Jets take on Tampa Bay on April 7, 2012 at the MTS Centre.
"MTS's deployment of fibre optic technology in Steinbach contributes to the momentum, optimism and growth our community is experiencing," said Mayor Goertzen. "The investment MTS is making places our community on the leading edge of technology, and points to the on-going growth and stability of Manitoba's third largest city. It also means more choice for our citizens."
MTS is investing $125 million over five years to deploy its fibre-to-the-home network to over 120,000 homes and enable MTS Ultimate TV service in more than 20 communities in Manitoba.
