WINNIPEG, April 20, 2012 /CNW/ - As a local leader in environmental stewardship and technological innovation, MTS is pleased to announce its latest generation of MTS Ultimate TV PVR set-top boxes have earned an Energy Star rating - a designation that recognizes products as the most energy-efficient in their categories. MTS has a long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability and this ranking strengthens the impressive lineup of innovative features that contribute to the success of MTS Ultimate TV service.
"TV viewers today want to watch what they want, when they want, and where they want," said Kelvin Shepherd, President MTS. "MTS has been the market leader in Manitoba in offering a Whole Home PVR as part of MTS Ultimate TV service, which allows you to watch and manage your PVR content on any connected TV in your home while also being able to pause and rewind live TV programs."
MTS has used Energy Star rated set-top boxes ever since it launched its MTS Ultimate TV service in 2009. MTS's newest PVR set-top box places MTS at the forefront of energy efficiency and innovation using about half the power of an average PVR.
"These energy efficient set-top boxes demonstrate MTS's commitment to deliver advanced features and a high quality TV viewing experience to our customers while meeting our commitment to the environment," added Shepherd. "Our newest PVR set-top box offers three times more TV program storage than our first generation PVR, and also helps our customers save money by lowering energy consumption and utility bills."
All of the set-top boxes used to deliver MTS Ultimate TV are Energy Star rated. Energy Star is the international symbol of premium energy efficiency. Products that display the Energy Star symbol have been tested according to prescribed procedures and have been found to meet or exceed higher energy efficiency levels.
