POINTE-CLAIRE, QC, April 15, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - In order to ensure the health and safety of the residents at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, the Montréal West Island Integrated University Health and Social Services Center (IUHSSC) has requested that infection control experts from the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) be deployed to work with onsite professionals.
Several proactive measures were taken today to compliment those already in place at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, with the goal of securing optimal conditions to limit the spread of COVID-19. A team of experts has been sent to the institution, including MUHC infection control specialist and nurse Ramona Rodriguez, and Dr. Maria Arrieta, Head of Infection Control at the IUHSSC. A full-time senior manager has also been assigned to provide support to the staff.
These various measures are in response to two residents testing positive for COVID-19 in the last few days. Every resident and employee of Ste. Anne’s Hospital is now being tested, and staff members continue to be in contact with residents’ families and loved ones.
“The collaboration of professionals is at the heart of each of our actions. We are putting everything in place to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. The team at Ste. Anne’s Hospital, and the MUHC and IUHSSC experts are working together to ensure the optimal conditions to deal with any issues that could arise,” explained Beverley-Tracey John, Director of Nursing at the IUHSSC.
These initiatives are in addition to existing measures in the West Island of Montréal. The IUHSSC is making every effort to ensure that its institutions are prepared to deal with the pandemic, and protect the health and safety of its service users and employees.
