Mulcair and Singh stand up for Gate Gourmet workers
The outsourcing of Gate Gourmet jobs could have an impact on the safety of air travellers.
TORONTO, March 17, 2014 /CNW/ - In response to the outsourcing of some 120 jobs by Gate Gourmet, the Leader of the Official Opposition Thomas Mulcair and MPP Jagmeet Singh (Bramalea-Gore-Malton) will attend a meeting organized by Teamsters Union Local 647 to discuss the impact the loss of these jobs could have on the safety of air travellers.
Teamsters Local Union 647 represents close to 800 Gate Gourmet workers.
Gate Gourmet prepares, packages and distributes meals served on aircraft at Lester B. Pearson airport. The company is a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Gate Group, which serves 300 million passengers travelling on 270 airlines each year.
