Multicultural Theatre Space Named Finalist for 2012 Great Grants Award
Ontario Trillium Foundation recognizes project's outstanding impact

The Ontario Trillium Foundation today announced that The Multicultural Theatre Space (The MT Space) is a finalist for the prestigious 2012 Great Grants Awards. The awards recognize Ontario organizations that have demonstrated exceptional results, innovation and a lasting impact on the communities they serve.
The MT Space has been selected as a finalist in the arts and culture category. A total of eight 2012 Great Grants Awards recipients will be recognized in the presence of Hon. Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, at a ceremony in Toronto on March 23.
FINALIST PROFILE
The Multicultural Theatre Space (The MT Space) Inc.
Waterloo Region's IMPACT (International Multicultural Platform for Alternative Contemporary Theatre) is a new bi-annual international theatre festival attracting a world-class calibre of artists from across Canada and around the world. The festival creates contemporary theatre, and communicates cultural, philosophical, social, political and artistic concepts through performance, all with a focus on national and international contemporary multicultural works. OTF provided funding to Multicultural Theatre Space to support the creation of IMPACT which, like its classical theatre neighbour Stratford, is fast becoming the heart of Canadian multi-disciplinary and intercultural theatre. | ||
The MT Space was awarded a Community grant of $147,000 over two years in 2007. |
