Municipal political parties - The Chief Electoral Officer withdraws his authorization of the Vision Montréal party Français
QUEBEC CITY, April 10, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - In answer to a request received from the party leader, the Chief Electoral Officer of Québec, Jacques Drouin, withdrew his authorization of the Équipe Harel - Vision Montréal municipal party, effective April 7, 2014.
The Chief Electoral Officer's authorization represents the official act through which a municipal political party may come to exist. Withdrawal of authorization leads to the dissolution of the party and its liquidation by the Chief Electoral Officer.
As such, the sums and assets of the party will be remitted, if applicable, to the Chief Electoral Officer and a closing financial report provided. The Chief Electoral Officer will liquidate the assets of the party and pay its debts out of the sums remitted to him and the proceeds of the liquidation of its assets. If the party's liabilities exceed the assets, the Chief Electoral Officer will pay the respective creditors on a pro rata basis.
