Museums re-opening: the MAC reacts to the news from the ministre de la Culture et des Communications Français
MONTRÉAL, May 22, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (MAC) is happy to comply with the new directive emitted today by Nathalie Roy and the ministère de la Culture et des Communications, allowing museums to re-open their doors to the public starting May 29, 2020. Pursuant to this wonderful news, the MAC will make an announcement next week regarding an official re-opening date during the month of June and details on procedures in place to ensure the security of both visitors and museum employees.
Director and Chief Curator John Zeppetelli reacted to the news: "We all have to live with the consequences of confinement; this announcement by Ms. Nathalie Roy is a great thing as it will once again allow visitors to benefit from the solace that stems from being in contact with works of art. At the MAC, we will be ready to welcome visitors back very soon and will share the details of our re-opening over the coming days. I want to assure the public that the Musée is going to great lengths to deploy all necessary measures to ensure the security of our visitors and our employees, while maintaining a harmonious experience. Museums have large enough spaces to accommodate social distancing, which will contribute to granting visitors the peace of mind to contemplate and enjoy a better museum experience."

It is also a place of discovery, offering visitors experiences that are continually changing and new, and often unexpected and stirring. The MAC presents temporary exhibitions devoted to outstanding and relevant current artists who provide their own particular insight into our society, as well as exhibitions of works drawn from the museum's extensive collection. These may feature any and every form of expression: digital and sound works, installations, paintings, sculptures, ephemeral pieces, and more. In addition to its wide range of educational activities familiarizing the general public with contemporary art, the MAC organizes unique artistic performances and festive events. It is a window onto a myriad of avant-garde expressions that extend the reach of art throughout the city and beyond. macm.org/en/
