MONTREAL, March 3 /CNW Telbec/ - Mechtronix World Corporation (MWC), one of the top leading providers of airline operations and training solutions in the world, today announced a significant monetary donation to Concordia University's Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science to promote and support the department's research activities. In an official dedication ceremony held today at the university's premises, Joaquim Frazao Vice-President and Co-founder of Mechtronix Systems, a division of MWC, presented the donation to both Dr. Judith Woodsworth and Dr. Robin A.L. This gift is part of Mechtronix's ongoing support and is a vote of confidence in the calibre of education and hands-on experience students receive at Concordia."
"Donating to Concordia University and investing in higher education is very important to MWC; it's an investment for the future as giving the students the means to be creative and innovative will better prepare them for their professional life", said Joaquim Frazao, Mechtronix Systems' Vice-President and former professor at Concordia University. "The core of MWC's success relies on exceptional R&D and we believe it is fundamental to encourage it at the educational level. Furthermore, skilled and well-prepared students can only be positive for entrepreneurs like us as we always need innovative thinking to continue moving forward and further pushing industry boundaries."
"We are very happy to be able to give back to the institution which has been instrumental in making Mechtronix Systems a leading innovative player in the flight simulation and training industry", said Mechtronix Systems' President Hervé. "Ever since we graduated, we have supported Concordia University in different ways including the donation of a simulator to the Aerospace Institute of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. It is an honor to be associated to a renowned institution like Concordia University that attracts many students from all over the world each year and it is also a pleasure to contribute to the next generation successes."
Mechtronix Systems was founded in the late 1980s by a team of engineering students from Concordia University who successfully discovered that micro-processor technology could be used for industrial applications in flight simulation. Giving students the opportunity to make their dream become a reality is at the core of MWC values and the founders also want to give back to Concordia University in appreciation of their engineering faculty's innovative thinking safeguarding the concept of Intelligent Machines created at the time when they were students themselves.
