OTTAWA, Feb. 13, 2013 /CNW/ - Today, Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport Canada , Infrastructure and Communities, announced the appointment of Sam Barone as Vice-Chair of the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA).
Mr. Barone's wide-ranging aviation experience in both the public and private sector is welcomed by the National Airlines Council of Canada (NACC) members - Air Canada, Air Transat, Jazz Aviation LP and WestJet. Sam Barone has held positions with Transport Canada and the Competition Bureau, and was President of both the Air Transport Association of Canada (ATAC) and the Canadian Business Aviation Association (CBAA).

He brings with him a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and understanding of the operational realities airlines face. We believe he is well suited to help the CTA set the conditions for a competitive and efficient national transportation system that fulfills the needs of Canadians and the Canadian economy", said George Petsikas, President of the NACC.
The CTA plays a key role as tribunal and economic regulator through dispute resolution and essential economic regulation. The NACC member airlines look forward to continuing to work with the CTA.
