Name Change Reflects Broadened Membership
BEDFORD, NS, March 29 /CNW/ - The Nova Scotia Association of Health Organizations today announced its new name, Health Association Nova Scotia. The modified name more succinctly reflects the Association's mission, vision and the organizations that it represents. The role that the Association has played in Nova Scotia's health system for 50 years is clearly communicated in the accompanying tagline - Leadership. Services. Support.
Health Association Nova Scotia is a member-driven association representing health and community services organizations spanning the entire health continuum in Nova Scotia. For 50 years, the Association has made a positive contribution to the health system of Nova Scotia by working collaboratively to promote health system improvements and by providing its members with responsive, value-added programs and services.
"As a progressive organization that must continually evolve in response to the dynamic needs of its membership, we felt the time was right for a more modern and simplified name that better reflects who we are and the role that we play in the health system," says Mary Lee, President and CEO of Health Association Nova Scotia. "We also needed a name that focused on a broader definition of health than what most would identify with the term health organization in the traditional sense. As a health association, our current and future membership includes organizations along the entire health continuum. That includes organizations who contribute to the social determinants of health as well."
Health Association Nova Scotia is a non-government, not-for-profit, membership-driven association comprised of over 100 organizations that are committed to the health and well-being of Nova Scotians. Our members include the nine district health authorities, the IWK Health Centre, nursing homes and homes for the aged, residential care facilities, adult residential centres, regional rehabilitation centres, group homes, small options, home care organizations (including visiting nursing and home support), other health-related agencies, and health care foundations.
