Nampala cyanidation tests deliver impressive gold recovery rates
QUEBEC CITY, Sept. 21 /CNW Telbec/ - Robex Resources Inc. (TSX-V: RBX / FWB: RB4) is pleased to announce that metallurgical testwork on mineral samples collected from the RC drilling program at the Nampala project were successfully treated at SGS Mineral Services' Laboratory in Lakefield, Canada, yielding impressive gold recovery rates averaging 89%.
A total of 461 samples were initially prepared under the supervision of Mr. Benoit Violette, geologist, and assayed at ALS' laboratory facilities in Bamako, Mali. The samples were then shipped to Canada in 23 bags, blended and divided in 9 fractions of 40-45 kg each. Engineering firm Bumigene forwarded a 3 kg sample with an average grade of 1.139 g/t to SGS's laboratory which conducted two cyanidation tests.
Cyanidation results show that recovery rates of 88.8% and 89.2% were achieved after 48 hours with a very low CN consumption ratio of 0.33kgm/t or less. One sample was tested as received (no grinding) with a granulometry of 80% at minus 140 Microns (100 mesh) and the other (after grinding) with 80% at minus 18 Microns (800 mesh). Additional tests are planned with SGS in order to increase the recovery rate above 90% and also to reduce reagent consumption.
"The oxide minerals portion of the Nampala project is basically a saprolite within which only about 10% of the reverse circulation drilling material exceeds 10 mesh in size. The very low consumption of cyanide and limestone during the testwork also confirms to date a very simple mining operation with minimum crushing /grinding for a portion of the feed with the rest being fed directly to the cyanide leach tanks. Such a project could be developed in large part locally and implemented at much lower capital costs than a hard rock operation. We are very pleased with these results and our intention is to advance the project towards feasibility within the next 12 to 15 months" stated André Gagné, President & CEO.
Otherwise, testwork was also completed with regard to the potential use of gravimetric separation methods. Samples sent to McGill University's laboratory were tested under the supervision of Mr. Florent Baril of Bumigene, who concluded that gravimetric separation was inappropriate due to the fineness of gold particles in the oxide.
