Medical Clinic Operator and Opaskwayak Cree Nation launch bid to participate in Manitoba's Recreational Cannabis Industry
OTTAWA, Nov. 8, 2017 /CNW/ - National Access Cannabis Corp. ("NAC" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: NAC), Canada's best practices leader in delivering secure, safe, and responsible access to legal medical cannabis, today announced that it intends to file a response to the government of Manitoba's recent request for proposals ("RFP") on the legal trade of marijuana. The Company believes its centralized security management and internal controls, history of successfully operating an extensive nationwide network of medical marijuana clinics, and strong working relationship with the Opaskwayak Cree Nation of Manitoba will be contributing factors in the proposal NAC will file in advance of the December 22, 2017 deadline.
"We have developed a strong history of effectively delivering secure, safe, and responsible access to legal medical cannabis for thousands of Canadian patients and our business model can be effectively replicated for use in the recreational space as well," said Mark Goliger, Chief Executive Officer of National Access Cannabis. "Our partnership with the Opaskwayak Cree Nation and the support they provide will allow us to quickly and effectively establish the locations required to support Manitoba. As experienced operators, with responsible management through our centralized security, tight internal controls and highly-trained clinicians, we are well positioned to exceed the province's requirements."
"This is a fantastic opportunity for the Manitoba First Nations community to build out and operate these legal retail dispensaries on both urban and First Nation's sites throughout the province," said Chief Christian Sinclair of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation. "The shift of this industry from the black market and into the hands of our community has the potential to lift our members out of poverty and impower them through stable, secure employment. With the backing of National Access Cannabis' clinical operating model, we can safely supply the appropriate infrastructure and support that Manitoba will need for July 1, 2018."
