Over $3.8 Million Raised since 2005
MONTREAL, Feb. 12, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank and the Breakfast Club of Canada recently treated the children of Harfang-des-Neiges school in Pierrefonds to a wholesome breakfast accompanied by music performed by the musicians of the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal. The Bank also took this opportunity to reveal the results of its 9th fundraising campaign for the Breakfast Club of Canada. In 2013, sales of the exclusive set of 4 colourful magnets in Bank branches across Canada helped raise $405,000. Since it first became involved in this cause in 2005, National Bank has raised nearly $3.8 million for the Breakfast Club of Canada.
In attendance for the National Bank déjeuners symphoniques at Harfang-des-Neiges school, Lise-Anne Amyot, Vice-President - Brand and Client Experience, stated: "Through the National Bank One for Youth program, we are focusing our support on initiatives that benefit young people through various partnerships and commitments. The fundraising campaign for the Breakfast Club of Canada is a perfect example of this, because it combines the strengths of several organizations that work to foster the wellbeing of young people."
In addition to giving each student a set of 4 magnets, Ms. Amyot presented a cheque for $5,000 to Harfang-des-Neiges school. This amount will be used to improve the school's portable stage. Adding a set of lights and curtains will help transform the gym into an auditorium, thereby enabling students to discover the world of music and its many benefits.
The involvement of National Bank and the contribution of the thousands of donors who purchased the exclusive set of 4 magnets help the Breakfast Club of Canada maintain its services in existing clubs, and extend the scope of its mandate to as many children as possible. This organization serves 18,000 children across Quebec on a daily basis. Last year, 2.5 million breakfasts were provided by 3,500 volunteers in Quebec.
Each year, National Bank supports hundreds of Canadian organizations through donations and sponsorships. It is particularly committed to young people through its One for Youth program, ensuring they are healthy and have the tools they need to become engaged citizens who are committed to building a better world.
