MONTREAL, Nov. 7, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank is proud to support the "My Giving Moment" campaign promoting philanthropy and volunteerism that was launched by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. The Bank will contribute $100,000 to the initiative for each year of the campaign, for a total of $400,000.
The goal of this initiative is to foster all forms of giving in Canadians. Whether it is through donating money or volunteering for a non-profit organization, "My Giving Moment" will target the entire population, with a view to creating a true giving culture across the country. To do so, the project relies on the support of its partners, including National Bank. The program's leaders will also be launching a multimedia campaign with the message, "Hey, I'm going to do that!"
Each year, National Bank provides substantial support to the community, notably with its One for Youth program that supports initiatives for young people from birth to age 25. In 2013, twelve regional committees were created across Canada to select from among 1,600 youth projects. This year, $1 million will be distributed as part of this program.
Aside from its donations and sponsorships program, specific distinctions are awarded each year to National Bank employees who have exhibited outstanding volunteerism. The André-Bérard Award, named in honour of a former National Bank president who served from 1990 to 2002, is the highest recognition in the employee volunteer program.
