National Bank will support 175 inspiring projects for young people across Canada
- Eight regional committees in Quebec selected 123 projects that will benefit 18,645 young people
- Four regional committees (Pacific, Prairies, Ontario and Atlantic) selected 52 projects that will benefit 8,240 young people
MONTREAL, Feb. 3, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank is proud to announce that 175 projects across Canada have been selected to receive support through its One for Youth regional committees program. Some 27,000 youths will benefit from financial support awarded by 12 regional committees tasked with selecting the recipients and winning projects for the second edition of the program. Recipients from coast to coast will share in the $1 million which will go towards the implementation of their inspiring youth initiatives. This is in addition to the same amount distributed last year, which brings National Bank's total investment to $12 million over the past five years for younger generations.
For the members of National Bank's regional committees, the variety and creativity of the projects demonstrated the dynamic nature of the many submissions. A number of non-profit organizations, elementary schools and high schools presented projects focused on education, health and wellness, or pursuing passions.
"Today, we are celebrating the winning projects and their ambassadors. We are very proud that our financial support will make a difference for so many young people in large and small communities across Canada. The selected initiatives not only demonstrate values of engagement, proximity and excellence, but also will make it possible for thousands of them to reap concrete benefits and develop their potential," said Karen Leggett, National Bank's Executive Vice-President – Marketing and Corporate Strategy.
Over the coming weeks, National Bank will invite the public and the media to follow the stories of the recipients as they develop and implement the projects.
