the Nisga'a Nation

OTTAWA , Nov. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - "Yesterday's passing of Chief Nelson Leeson is a great tragedy for his family and friends, and also tragic in the loss of a Hereditary Chief and leader of the Nisga'a Nation, who made such a large contribution to his community and to his province," said National Chief Shawn Atleo. "As a young leader, I learned so much from watching and listening to Chief Leeson, who did so much work for his people over the decades, which was highlighted by the first modern day Treaty, the Nisga'a Treaty. Chief Leeson leaves behind a lasting legacy that will continue to influence First Nations - Crown relations for decades to come."
