National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation Challenges Government to Redistribute the Wealth
OTTAWA, Feb. 5, 2013 /CNW/ - The National Pensioners and Senior Citizens Federation Executive Board is in Ottawa from Feb 5th to 7th, 2013 to present their annual brief to Members of Parliament.
The NPSCF presentation is done at this time so that the upcoming federal budget will reflect the needs of seniors in Canada.
The overall goal is to advocate on behalf of seniors and persuade the government to act on the years of research material that clearly shows where and why improvements are necessary.
Our vision of Canada is clearly quite different from the vision of the Harper government, said NPSCF President Herb John.
"If the Harper government reacted as quickly to seniors' issues as they do to corporate development interests we would have a much better country. This is a shameful reality for a country as wealthy as Canada," said John.
The NPSCF represents a million seniors in 250 affiliated organizations. It is the only National senior's advocacy federation that holds an annual convention to set policy in open and democratic debate.
