encourage Canadians to embrace this e-shopping holiday?
34% of Canadians aware of Cyber Monday, 15% consider shopping online, men lead trend
TORONTO, Nov. 25 /CNW/ - It's a shopping trend that has steadily grown in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Portugal. Will Canada be the next country to embrace Cyber Monday, a new sales day that promotes e-commerce?
Cyber Monday, a marketing term for the Monday that immediately follows Black Friday - the traditional beginning of the holiday shopping season in the U.S. - is slowly gaining traction in Canada. According to a recent PayPal / Ipsos Reid survey, 34 per cent of Canadians between 18 - 34 years old are aware of Cyber Monday and 15 per cent will shop online to take advantage of the sales. Interestingly, men far outnumber the amount of women that will shop online (11% vs. 4% split).
Nicky Mezo, head of marketing, PayPal in Canada, is available for interviews and can provide comment on:
- The history of Cyber Monday - when it started and how it grew.
- How the strong Canadian dollar may encourage Canadians to take advantage of the big sales happening online in the U.S.
- What Canadian shoppers are considering buying this Cyber Monday.
- How some Canadian retailers are already jumping onboard and why others should consider being part of Cyber Monday to boost sales.
