Yorkdale General Manager Anthony Casalanguida will be onsite to speak about Boxing Day trends, consumer survey results, shopping tips and more
TORONTO, Dec. 26, 2012 /CNW/ - A new Yorkdale Shopping Centre survey reveals that more than half of Canadians (53%) plan to take advantage of Boxing Day sales this year1. In fact, Yorkdale Shopping Centre management is expecting more than 120,000 people to walk through their doors on this day alone!
According to the majority of Canadians, the most challenging aspect of Boxing Day shopping is sorting through sales and promotions (55%), followed by parking (50%). Yorkdale is making Boxing Day shopping and parking more cheerful this year with the Yorkdale App. Shoppers can use the app to view all Boxing Day sales and promotions listed by store. Plus, the app updates shoppers every 15 minutes on the best areas of the parking lot to find a space.
Following the November 2012 retail expansion, Yorkdale now has more parking than any other shopping centre in Toronto with stop light technology in the new 800-spot underground parkade; lights over each stall in the new underground lot easily alerts drivers of parking availability.
In addition, shoppers who travel to Yorkdale on Boxing Day with a TTC Family Day Pass will receive a $10 Yorkdale gift card. Simply present your valid pass with same-day receipts totaling $50 at a guest services kiosk.
What sales will shoppers take advantage of this year? Electronics are the number one item that Canadians intend to buy this Boxing Day (49%) followed by clothing (27%). Shoppers can find both at Yorkdale Shopping Centre that has more first-to-market retailers (Tesla Motors, Microsoft, Ted Baker London, kate spade new york) than any other Canadian shopping centre, and a new 145,000 square foot retail expansion.
Anthony Casalanguida, Yorkdale General Manager, will be on site at Yorkdale December 26th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and can provide insight on the following:
- The hottest Boxing Day items, according to Yorkdale's latest consumer survey
