Negotiations hit an impasse at Yellow Pages Group

MONTREAL, March 8 /CNW Telbec/ - 95 % of the unionized sales representatives of the Yellow Pages Group in Ottawa and across the province of Québec have voted in favour of pressure tactics up to and including a general strike.
Unionized with the Syndicat des employées et employés professionnels et de bureau, section locale 574 (SEPB 574) a local of COPE SEPB, the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union, these workers have been without a contract since December 31 last. The employer has told the union it wanted to completely review the working conditions of its 275 sales reps. especially the promotion and union recognition clauses to allow sub-contracting.
The services of a conciliator from the Ministry of Labour have been requested and a bargaining session is scheduled for this Wednesday with Conciliator Richard Champagne.
