Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada announces Darcy Stann as recipient of Len Marks Pharmacy Advancement Award and Kimberly Schroeder as recipient of the distinguished Associate of the Year 2018
TORONTO, March 29, 2018 /CNW/ - The Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada (Neighbourhood Pharmacies), announced that Darcy Stann has been named the 2018 recipient of the Len Marks Pharmacy Advancement Award and that Kimberly Schroeder, Value, Access and Policy Senior Manager for Pharmacy, Amgen Canada, has been named its 2018 Distinguished Associate of the Year.
These awards recognize the true champions of pharmacy – those individuals who work tirelessly day in and out to advocate for the delivery of more accessible care in our communities through pharmacy. "This year's Award recipients represent two exceptional individuals within the sector whose individual contributions collectively improve accessibility to care in pharmacy and drive innovation" said Neighbourhood Pharmacies CEO Justin J. Bates.
The awards will be presented at the Annual Chair's Dinner, April 3, 2018, during the Pharmacy, Health and Beauty EXPO 2018.
Bates said, "At Neighbourhood Pharmacies, we believe that a sustainable pharmacy sector is foundational to the economic and health vitality of our communities and Canadians. Ensuring care is delivered in the most efficient manner, in partnership with the most accessible healthcare providers in pharmacy, means having pharmacy at the table for discussions on healthcare improvements, and ensuring services are delivered where and when people need them most."
Len Marks Pharmacy Advancement Award
The Len Marks Pharmacy Advancement Award recipient is: Involved in supporting the development and excellence of pharmacy education at the university level, encouraging students to enter pharmacy as a career; provides an environment ripe for education and training for pharmacy staff to advance the standards of healthcare delivery; and, promotes pharmacy as a community resource in the provision of healthcare services and brings the attention of government and industry partners to the valuable contribution of community pharmacy.
Darcy is a Principal of consulting firm Firebird Management Consulting Group Limited. Firebird provides strategic planning, government relations, product innovation and network development services to a series of multinational and Canadian companies servicing the community pharmacy sector. Darcy is a subject matter expert in: pharmacy legislation and regulatory affairs, government negotiations, and the development of high-cost specialty drug programs for community pharmacy.
Prior to establishing Firebird Management Consulting Group Darcy spent over 16 years with the Canada Safeway Pharmacy group where he was instrumental in leading them to their position as the number one provider of pharmaceuticals in Western Canada. During his tenure he created a specialty pharmacy program that dominated the western Canadian marketplace, an internationally recognized patient adherence network, and a clinical pharmacist network that positioned Canada Safeway to successfully integrate paid pharmacy services as they are implemented across the west.
Darcy worked nationally with Canada Safeway and sat on the Board of Directors and Council of Representatives from 2008-2012 for the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores (as Neighbourhood Pharmacies was formerly known as) where he worked on government issues, privacy issues facing community pharmacy, professional program development, and internationally on professional program development and loyalty programs.

Distinguished Associate of the Year Award
The Distinguished Associate of the Year award honours a Neighbourhood Pharmacies Associate in good standing who displays commitment to Association initiatives, and/or committees, and who contributes to the advancement of the community pharmacy industry.
Kimberly has contributed to the advancement of pharmacy through her experience in the life sciences sector for over twenty years. During this time, she has worked in several major companies (Bristol-Myers Squibb, Procter & Gamble, LifeScan, Pharmascience and Amgen Canada) across highly competitive and diverse product lines (including Health and Beauty, Over-The-Counter Medications (OTC), Diabetic Medical Devices, Generic Prescription Drugs (GX), Private Label OTC/GX, and Biotechnology). Her passion for the business of pharmacy has led her to work collaboratively to improve patient access, value and care alongside business leaders, pharmacists, and educators within the corporate retail pharmacy, provincial and national industry associations.
Kimberly sits on the Neighbourhood Pharmacy Association of Canada's Industry and Business Advisory Committee (IBAC).
