NetSupport's new and extended classroom support for iOS, Kindle, Chromebook and Android, now debuting at BETT 2014 (Stand C290)
MARKHAM, ON, Jan. 23, 2014 /CNW/ - With the world's leading education technology event, BETT UK (ExCel London 22-25 January), has opened its doors, education software specialist NetSupport is delighted to announce that visitors to Stand C290 will be the first to experience the latest update to its leading classroom management and instruction tool, NetSupport School (version 11.41).
With the growing use of mobile technology in the modern classroom and an increasing number of schools introducing BYOD schemes, platform flexibility is key for today's classroom management software solutions – and with this latest version, NetSupport School further extends its already unique offering for the multi-platform learning environment by ensuring teachers can collaborate with any mix of technology.
An enhanced version of the NetSupport School Student app for Android is now available which includes the ability for teachers to view thumbnails of connected student tablets, remotely launch websites on one or more student tablets and assign student rewards. This student application has been signed by many of the leading tablet manufacturers, including Intel, HP, Samsung and Asus to ensure screen monitoring can be done without the need to compromise tablet security or root the device. The enhanced Android Student is also joined by a brand new Student app for Apple iOS – ensuring students using iPads can also join with your NetSupport-managed lessons.
The NetSupport School Student apps for Android, Kindle and iOS are available as free downloads from Google Play, Amazon and iTunes.
The latest update for NetSupport School ensures key e-safety areas are supported, including keyword monitoring; Instant Messenger monitoring; a unique Safe Search mode to ensure a safe search engine experience; internet controls − and a unique student toolbar ensuring students can communicate silently with a teacher at any time. To help optimise performance in all wired and wireless environments, NetSupport School now includes further performance and networking capabilities, including multicast support.
The latest version also features live folders. When initiating a file transfer to a remote PC, the path to any open folders (Explorer windows) on either the teacher or student's desktop are displayed at the top of the file transfer view window to ease quick selection. Assessment for Learning (AfL) guidance is supported with unique Question and Answer tools, peer assessment options, basketball questioning and digital student journals.
Commenting on the latest update, NetSupport's Managing Director Al Kingsley said: "We are delighted to be able to use BETT 2014 as the launch pad for the latest evolution of our flagship education solution. BETT provides the perfect opportunity for us to not only take visitors on a tour of NetSupport School's latest best practice teaching tools, but also to outline how the product offers complete flexibility and future proofs a school's investment for any ICT environment. NetSupport School offers the unique proposition of being the only classroom management solution with dedicated applications for each desktop and mobile platform."
