NETWORK COMPLETES DRILLING AT CALDERA
VANCOUVER, Sept. 20 /CNW/ - Network Exploration Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX.V: NET) is pleased to provide an update on the diamond drill program at its Caldera property in the mineral-rich Huasco Province of Northern Chile. The program is now finished, with a total of 11 completed holes totaling 2401 metres at selected gold and copper targets on the project.
Five holes totaling 780 metres have been completed at the La Blanca mine area and nearby gold targets. The gold targets were selected as a result of previous underground drifting and surface trenching campaigns at the property. These campaigns provided underground panel sample results of 2.45g/t Au over 18 metres including individual samples of up to 9.24g/t Au (taken over two metre sample intervals) and trenching results of 0.43g/t Au over two 35 metre sections.
The remaining six holes were designed to test the nearby copper-gold porphyry system at Caldera. A combination of induced polarization (IP) geophysical anomalies and areas of high copper values as noted in previous geochemical programs was used to target the drill holes.
The Caldera property geology displays common porphyry system model characteristics typically found along the west coast of Chile and Peru. These systems, if they are determined to be economic, have the potential to develop into some of the largest open pit mines in the world.
Classic Chilean copper-gold porphyry systems are characterized by many traits including structural control, outer zones of base and precious metal deposition, a complex intrusive system with porphyritic monzonite at the center, zoned alteration, presence of silica rich breccia pipes, intrusion of late dykes of varying composition, the presence of stockwork, the presence of chalcopyrite in the hypogene part of the profile and strong magnetic susceptibility at the core. As observed from Network's exploration programs at Caldera, this project exhibits all of these features.
All core selected for sampling was divided into three metre intervals and split in half, with one portion bagged in tamper proof bags and delivered by Company personnel to the ALS Chemex laboratory in La Serena, Chile where they will be analyzed by procedure Au-SCR22 ("metallics" or screen fire assay) and ME-ICP 41 (35 element ICP) methods. The remaining core is returned to its core tray and stored at the Company's secure core storage facility located in Cachiyuyo, Chile. Results will be released once they have been received and analyzed by Network's geological team.
