MONTREAL, Sept. 15, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Today, Québec's 48 public colleges, grouped together under the banner of the Fédération des cégeps, are launching an advertising campaign aimed at highlighting the contributions that CEGEPs make to Québec's development. Grouped under the "CÉGEP" tagline, the messages in this multi-platform campaign will be distributed over a three-year period, culminating in 2016-2017 for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of CEGEPs.
The "CÉGEP" tagline: a seal of quality, a source of pride
"The time had come for the 48 GEGEPs to remind people of the tremendous importance of the CEGEP education system – a province-wide system that's unique in Canada, which guarantees accessibility across Quebec and brings countless benefits to the province, its citizens and businesses," said Jean Beauchesne, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fédération des cégeps. "The 50th anniversary of CEGEPs is just around the corner and the accomplishments of our network, firmly anchored in the present while looking to the future, are something to be proud of."
Approximately 50,000 students graduate from CEGEP each year and go on to join the labour market or pursue university studies. Thanks to CEGEPs, Québec ranks first in Canada for the number of 18- to 24-year-olds graduating with a post-secondary diploma.
CEGEPs are important for economic, social and cultural development and contribute to the vitality of their communities, both in large urban centres and regionally. They provide students with a general education that makes them informed and open-minded citizens who can think critically. CEGEPs also provide technical and vocational training that prepare a qualified workforce highly valued by local businesses and organizations. The pre-university programs offered by CEGEPs are a rich springboard for university studies. Through the research conducted within CEGEPs and their college centres for technology transfer, they help contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development of science.
A multi-platform campaign
During its first year, the ad campaign will feature four general-interest messages revolving around words, each one of which can be read at two levels. Each message will emphasize the benefits and quality of our CEGEP network.
The campaign will be rolled out on a variety of traditional platforms, as well as on-line, starting in mid-September. Commercials will be aired simultaneously on various television channels in the early fall, and several CEGEPs will display banners in the campaign's colours on their buildings. Spots will also be run as short videos and banners on the Web and social media.
