New App Helps GTA Commuters with Priorities
AJAX, ON, Nov. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - A new mobile app has been developed to help commuters in the Greater Toronto Area manage busy relationships, families and lifestyles on their way to and from work.
The new app, called Redeem the Commute, offers content for anyone on marriage, parenting and the basics of Christianity, with plans for other topics in the future. There is also a daily challenge for Christian commuters. The app is available online at http://www.redeemthecommute.com, in the Apple App Store and the Android Market.
Ryan Sim, who is starting a new church in Ajax, says he developed the app to reach people who wanted to assess and change their priorities in life, but had no time.
Mr. Sim conducted research over the past six months and found that Ajax has a high percentage of young families with adults who commute long hours to work. They spend little time at home, have demanding jobs and experience stress as a result. "They long to re-prioritize their lives but feel stuck," he says. "They know something is wrong and they want to fix it, but they haven't been able to do that yet. We realized that most people who are commuting have some kind of mobile device with them, so this would be a great way to deliver helpful content."
He says the app is designed for commuters from any background, and assumes no previous knowledge or experience with Christianity. He hopes users will share and discuss the content with their families, friends and fellow commuters, and form small discussion groups. By the end of next year, he plans to invite everyone to a group celebration in Ajax that will kick off a new church community, called Redeemer Church.
