New Board Appointments - British Columbia Ferry Services Inc.
VICTORIA, March 28, 2013 /CNW/ - British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. is pleased to announce that Jane M. Bird and John A. Horning have been appointed to its Board of Directors effective April 1, 2013.
Ms. Bird brings a wide range of business skills to the Board as CEO of Columbia Power Corporation. Ms. Bird was previously CEO of Canada Line Rapid Transit Inc. Ms. Bird is a lawyer. Prior to her work in transportation, she was partner in a private practice specializing in corporate, commercial and real estate law. Ms. Bird also presently serves on the Boards of Global Container Terminals Inc. and the Simon Fraser University Community Corporation.
Mr. Horning offers an extensive business background as Senior Vice President and CFO of International Forest Products Ltd. and Chairman, President and CEO of Seaboard International Shipping Ltd. Mr. Horning previously held the position of President and CEO of Pacific Coach Lines Ltd. Mr. Horning is a Chartered Accountant. He also serves on the Boards of the B.C. Pavilion Corporation and the David Spencer Endowment Encouragement Foundation.
In making the announcement, Board Chair Donald P. Hayes said that he welcomes Ms. Bird and Mr. Horning and the wealth of experience and knowledge that they bring to the Board. He commented that with the terms of Directors Holly A. Haston-Grant and Wayne H. Stoilen expiring in June of this year, the addition now of two such highly qualified Directors will ensure continuity of strong membership and solid Board performance. Mr. Hayes acknowledged the contributions made by outgoing Directors Haston-Grant and Stoilen and thanked them for their commitment and valuable service to the company.
