New collective agreement for Hibernia offshore workers
ST. JOHN'S, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - Offshore oil workers at the Hibernia platform in Newfoundland have ratified a new collective agreement.
The members of Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union Local 2121 today ratified the agreement, which applies to 420 workers working for 14 different companies.
The agreement is for four years with wage increases ranging from 4.5% to 12.5%, and it is retroactive to July 2009. Anyone with less than an 8% increase will receive a lump sum payment to bring their increase to 8%. Other highlights include:
A provision to book a full 21-day rotation off; increases in a shift differential in all years of the agreement; increases in day rates for salaried employees in two of the four years; and a revamped grievance arbitration process.
