New commissioner appointed to the British Columbia Securities Commission
VANCOUVER, March 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Brenda Leong, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher D. Farber to the BCSC Board.
"I am very pleased to welcome Chris to the commission. His extensive knowledge and experience will help us achieve our mission to protect investors and foster efficient capital markets," said Leong.
Christopher Farber is a securities lawyer with almost 20 years of experience, including practice experience at a national firm, as CD Farber Law Corporation and as corporate counsel at a number of companies. He holds a BA in Economics (Victoria) and obtained a joint LLB/MBA (Toronto) in 1995. His practice and corporate counsel experience has been primarily in the areas of the resource, mining, tech and green energy industries. His most recent corporate counsel position was with a carbon offsets company with forestry projects in Canada, the United States, and the Congo. Mr. Farber has been an active member of a number of community organizations.
