NEW CONTEST REWARDS ECO-RESPONSIBLE STUDENTS AND SCHOOLS
Staples Canada's Recycle For Education program will reward most
environmentally efficient school with a computer lab makeover valued up to 50K
RICHMOND HILL, ON, Sept. 20 /CNW/ - Students will have an eco-responsible challenge in the classroom this year as Staples Canada launches a new contest to honour the 'greenest' school in the country.
"Staples invites all publicly funded elementary and high schools to submit an essay about what action their school has taken to become more eco-responsible. The winning essay will receive a new computer lab for their school, worth up to $50,000," says Steve Matyas, president of Staples Canada. "This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the environment by taking steps and seeing measured results," continued Matyas.
Principals will choose one essay to represent their school. The environmental programs featured in students' essays must be an ongoing program and have been in existence for at least one calendar year, in order to be eligible.
"We know certain schools take great measures to protect the environment and can also use the money to enhance their school. We wish every school the best of luck," continued Matyas.

Schools are reminded to drop off all used/ink toner cartridges for recycling at any Staples store in Canada, as part of the Recycle For Education program.
Staples is thrilled to have four members of the environmental protection community on the judging panel: Jed Goldberg (Earth Day Canada), Gordon Harrison (GreenLearning Canada), Wade Humphries (Direct Energy) and Alexandra Shelley (Earth Cycle Planning).
