NEW DATE FOR INQUEST INTO THE DEATH OF DANNY (WILLIAM) GRIEVES ANNOUNCED

HAMILTON, ON, Sept. 3 /CNW/ - Dr. David Eden, Regional Supervising Coroner for Operations, today announced that a new date has been set for the inquest into the death of Danny (William) Grieves previously scheduled to begin on September 8, 2010.
Mr. Grieves, 25, died on October 8, 2008, from injuries received during the course of his employment at a construction site in Hamilton.
Under the Coroners Act, an inquest is mandatory when a person dies as a result of an accident occurring at a construction project. The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Grieves' death and the jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last two days and will hear from approximately five witnesses.
The inquest will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at the John Sopinka Courthouse, 45 Main Street East, Hamilton. Dr. Jack Stanborough will preside as inquest coroner and Ms. Karen Shea will be counsel to the coroner.
