New date for inquest into the death of Trevor Darron Thomas announced

TORONTO, April 23 /CNW/ - Dr. James Edwards, Regional Supervising Coroner for Central Region, Toronto East Office, today announced that a new date has been set for the inquest into the death of Trevor Darron Thomas previously scheduled to begin on May 13, 2010.
Mr. Thomas, 39, died on October 28, 2008, at the Toronto West Detention Centre in Rexdale. An inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
The inquest will examine the events surrounding Mr. Thomas' death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest is expected to last one week.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Toronto Coroners Courts, 15 Grosvenor Street. Dr. Bonnie Burke will preside as inquest coroner and Mr. Michael Blain will be counsel to the coroner.
