New Democrats ready to offer real leadership and results for people in byelections
TORONTO, Jan. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - New Democrats are ready to give voters in the ridings of Niagara Falls and Thornhill a real choice in the upcoming byelections, says New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath, with strong candidates that will deliver results on jobs, healthcare, affordability and making the government more accountable.
"New Democrats are going to offer voters a real choice in these byelections. They don't have to stick with the same old choices. They can send a community leader to Queen's Park to deliver results that create jobs, improve healthcare and help make life affordable," said Horwath.
"People feel like they've been ignored by a Liberal government mired in gas plants scandals that doesn't understand their challenges. And Tim Hudak is stuck on the sidelines, more interested in political posturing than getting things done.. New Democrats have shown we can deliver results and now people will have a chance to send real local leaders to Queen's Park to work hard for them."
Earlier today, Premier Wynne announced two byelections will be held on February 13, 2014. New Democrats will nominate candidates this weekend. At this time, in Niagara Falls riding, the one declared candidate is Niagara Falls City Councilor Wayne Gates. In Thornhill, Information Technology Project Manager, Cindy Hackelberg, is the one declared candidate.
