New Democrats ready to offer real leadership and results in byelections
TORONTO, July 3, 2013 /CNW/ - New Democrats are ready to give voters a real choice in five by-elections being held across Ontario, says New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath, with strong candidates that will deliver results, make government accountable and improve people's lives.
"Voters have a chance in these by-elections to send new voices to Queen's Park that will deliver results and focus on creating jobs, improving healthcare, and making government accountable," said Horwath. "People feel like they've been ignored by a Liberal government that doesn't understand their challenges. New Democrats have shown we can deliver results and now people will have a chance to send real local leaders to Queen's Park to work hard for them."
Earlier today, Premier Wynne announced five by-elections will be held on Thursday August 1st.
In Windsor-Tecumseh, New Democrats have nominated city councillor and former CBC journalist Percy Hatfield.
In London West, former school board Chair and Western Region Vice-President of the Ontario Public School Boards' Association Peggy Sattler has been nominated for the New Democrats.
New Democrats will nominate candidates in Etobicoke Lakeshore, Ottawa South or Scarborough- Guildwood in the coming days.
