MONTREAL, Nov. 6, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Board of Directors of Doctors of the World Canada is delighted to announce the nomination of Nadja Pollaert as Executive Director. In recent years, Ms Pollaert assumed various responsibilities and can attest to several notable achievements. She led the International Bureau for Children's Rights, an international non-governmental organisation with consultative status at the United Nations Social and Economic Council. An expert on child rights and child protection, Ms Pollaert has directed and initiated projects with multiple donors and partners in over 15 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Central America.
For several years, she coordinated the Committee to Aid Refugees, an organisation that defends the rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Canada. As the coordinator of a Quebec federation committed to promoting breastfeeding, she participated in the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), led by the World Health Organization. Determined to contribute to the defense of human rights, she has worked with several organisations as an administrator or volunteer such as Maison Buissonnière, an organisation dedicated to the social development of children, the Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children, Peacebuild and Amnesty International's Francophone section. She studied political science at the Institut d'Études Politiques Paris (France), and holds a master's degree in International Relations from University of Montreal.
