New jobs in the Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) industry - Gorilla Group announces the development of its Canadian operations in Greater Montréal Français
MONTRÉAL, Dec. 8, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Gorilla Group, an award-winning ecommerce solutions provider, officially announced the opening of its Canadian office in Greater Montréal and plans to expand its operations in Canada. The announcement was made in Chicago during a business visit by Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal and Chair of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal, in the presence of representatives from Investissement Québec and Montréal International. Gorilla Group CEO Brian Grady said the company plans to hire approximately 70 people in Montréal over the next two years, bringing the total number of employees to 100.
Combining award-winning website design, development, strategy, post-launch managed services and hosting, Gorilla Group offers innovative ecommerce solutions to Canadian retailers, wholesalers, and brand manufacturers. "Canada is a key market for growth because of the top talent available. Greater Montréal's pool of highly skilled, technical and knowledge workers was a determining factor in choosing our Canadian host city," said Brian Grady, Gorilla Group CEO. "What's more, the region's cultural heritage and cosmopolitan nature are perfectly in line with our company's culture."
Gorilla Group's Montréal office, which already has about 30 employees, plans to continue hiring more people and expand its range of operations. "Greater Montréal has an exceptionally dynamic ICT job market, and that will greatly help us expand our business in Québec and Canada. We are extremely proud to build on our Montréal team and be part of a growing industry that is vital to Québec's economy," added Grady.
"Gorilla Group's recent decision to set up in Montréal, a city recognized as a world-leading ICT hub, goes to show once more just how attractive our region is to businesses in this fast-growing industry. Montréal is famous for its skilled workers, great quality of life, and top urban, cultural and natural attractions. And those are just some of the reasons more and more foreign businesses are locating to the city," said Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal.
Investissement Québec and Montréal International supported and helped the group set up in Greater Montréal. "Québec has an attractive business environment and a pool of talent conducive to the growth of digital economy companies. We regularly fine-tune our assistance to businesses in this crucial sector to better serve the needs of the new generation of entrepreneurs. Gorilla Group's expansion is another step towards consolidating Québec's e-commerce expertise," said Jacques Daoust, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports.
"Gorilla Group, which has experienced meteoric growth in the U.S. over the past five years, chose Greater Montréal for its first Canadian office. That only goes to show how attractive our city is to businesses in the innovative and high-tech industries," said Dominique Anglade, President and CEO of Montréal International. "Foreign investment projects like this one aim to create high-quality jobs, generating wealth for all Quebecers."
Gorilla Group's arrival in Greater Montréal is part of the company's overall expansion strategy for the North-American market, which includes headquarters in Chicago and offices in New York, Irvine (California) and Montréal. The company is also active in Europe, with offices in Kiev (Ukraine) and Wroclaw (Poland).
