TORONTO, Aug. 5, 2014 /CNW/ - Manulife Investments today announced the addition of three mutual funds to its global fund lineup: Manulife Global Dividend Fund, Manulife Global Dividend Class and Manulife Global Strategic Balanced Yield Fund.
"Global equity and fixed income exposure are important diversification tools for Canadian investors" said Paul Lorentz, Executive Vice President, Retail Markets. "Equally important is the seasoned management of those investments by a team of professionals with expertise in these markets."
Manulife Global Dividend Fund and Manulife Global Dividend Class invest primarily in a diversified portfolio of high quality dividend paying global equities. The Fund's mandate is unconstrained, allowing the portfolio managers to invest in the most attractive investment opportunities throughout the world.
Portfolio Managers Paul Boyne (27 years of industry experience) and Doug McGraw (19 years of industry experience) of Manulife Asset Management, have a strong track record managing global equity products and use a proactive bottom-up stock-by-stock research process selecting strong value and growth companies. The Fund's goal is to provide a yield premium over the MSCI World Index by focusing on companies that compound cash flows and grow earnings, resulting in dividend growth.
Manulife Global Strategic Balanced Yield Fund invests in high quality, undervalued global dividend stocks as well as a diversified portfolio of global fixed income securities. The Fund invests across the spectrum of fixed income securities of global issuers of any quality and term. The fixed income component has maximum flexibility to tactically reposition holdings at different points in the credit cycle to mitigate downside risk and capitalize on opportunities.
Portfolio Managers for the Manulife Global Strategic Balanced Yield Fund are Paul Boyne and Doug McGraw who will manage the equity portion of the Fund and John Addeo (over 20 years of industry experience), Dennis McCafferty (over 17 years of industry experience), Endre Pedersen (over 13 years of industry experience) and Daniel S. Janis III (29 years of industry experience) of Manulife Asset Management, who will manage the fixed income portion of the Fund.
"Our mandate is to provide advisors and investors with the tools they need to build a diversified portfolio" said Derek Saliba, Assistant Vice President, Mutual Funds, Manulife. "In 2013, Manulife Asset Management hired Paul and Doug, seasoned global equity managers out of London with an excellent track record of managing income-oriented global equities and providing downside protection. They join John, Dennis, Endre and Dan, to lead this new Global Balanced Fund with a mandate to deliver a diversified global portfolio."
