New National Propane Association Looks Ahead to Productive Partnerships

"Safety is everything"

OTTAWA, Dec. 31 /CNW/ - The New Year will bring the dawn of the new national voice of propane in Canada, the Canadian Propane Association.  The new association will unify the voice of the propane industry in Canada. 

Mr. Jim Facette, appointed president & CEO in November, said, "This is an exciting opportunity. In starting new we have a chance to build new industry partnerships across Canada - we have already started in Ontario."

This past month the Canadian Propane Association reached out to the Government of Ontario to explore a new partnership that will provide for a seamless transition with the new regulatory environment.  Mr. Facette added, "In our initial communications with both the TSSA and the Ministry of Consumer Services we emphasized that safety is our members' business." The Association stressed the importance of moving forward as partners to ensure that public safety is maintained and any associated costs with the new regulatory regime do not jeopardize Canadian Propane Association members' businesses.

As the new Ontario regulations take effect in 2011 the Canadian Propane Association looks forward to working with both the Ministry of Consumer Services and the TSSA to minimize any resulting cost impacts so as not to jeopardize the viability of those affected.
