New OneTouch Verio® Meter Automatically Provides Key Information, so Canadians Living with Diabetes Can Better Understand their Results Français
BURNABY, BC, Nov. 3, 2014 /CNW/ - For the nearly three million Canadians living with diabetes,1 self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) is an integral part of diabetes management. However, nearly one third of patients living with diabetes can't make sense of their blood glucose results2 and many are therefore afraid to act. Canadians living with diabetes can feel more confident about managing their blood glucose with the new OneTouch Verio® Meter because it automatically provides helpful information with every test, and can help them better understand their results. Unlike other meters that just provide a number, this easy to use system provides results and key information on one screen, without any extra effort on the part of the patient. A colour-coded range indicator shows whether results are above, below or within a personal target range. And an automatic message appears with each test, which makes results simple to understand.
"To be successful in diabetes management patients need to work with numerous variables including diet and exercise, maintaining a healthy weight, monitoring blood glucose levels and adhering to medication, and as a result, patients often feel overwhelmed by all that they need to do to manage their condition," says Gail MacNeill, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mount Sinai Hospital. "The new OneTouch Verio® Meter can help patients understand their blood glucose results by providing helpful feedback about their readings and information on opportunities for better control, without having to put in any extra effort or work."
