New Patient-Education Program on Prostate Cancer
TORONTO, July 18, 2014 /CNW/ - medSchoolForYou.ca recently launched a free online program entitled The Importance of Prostate Cancer Testing: Know Your Number, the latest program for patients.
Adapted from an accredited education program for healthcare practitioners, the new medSchoolForYou program offers Canadians credible information they can trust.
The free online program will answer the following 6 questions:
- What is prostate cancer?
- How common is prostate cancer?
- How do you know if you need to be tested?
- What do the tests entail?
- What do the test results mean?
- How often do you need to be tested?
"1 in 7 men risk being diagnosed with prostate cancer, but early detection is key," says Dr Rajiv Singal, Head of Urology at Toronto East General Hospital and lead author of the program. "Raising awareness among healthcare professionals and patients is therefore paramount, and what better way than to build a continuing education program that will reach both audiences!"
