MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 14 /CNW/ - According to a survey commissioned by PepsiCo Foods Canada's Quaker brand, a resounding 99 per cent of Canadian moms said it's important to serve a wholesome breakfast to their children each morning. Ninety-five per cent also say that they consider hot cereals, like oatmeal, to be a nutritious breakfast choice for their family.
The study, sponsored by the new Quaker Strawberry and Vanilla Instant Oatmeal also found that three quarters (75 per cent) of Canadian moms consider breakfast to be the most important meal of the day. Important as it might be, two thirds (66 per cent) of Canadian moms also report that they wish breakfast were fun at their house.
This nation-wide poll was conducted by Angus Reid Public Opinion on behalf of PepsiCo Foods Canada's Quaker brand to provide insights into the attitudes and behaviours of Canadian moms at breakfast time.
"This survey confirmed what the Quaker brand already believes - that a positive start to the day begins with a wholesome breakfast and that oatmeal is a nutritious choice," says Kathryn Matheson, Vice President, Marketing Quaker and PepsiCo Foods Innovation at PepsiCo Foods Canada. "Hot cereals like Quaker Strawberry and Vanilla Instant Oatmeal appeal to moms who are looking to serve a nutritious choice that at the same time provides the fun factor that we know moms also want, by offering two flavours that even the most picky eaters will enjoy."
As part of the new Quaker Strawberry and Vanilla Instant Oatmeal campaign, the brand is increasing the fun factor in the morning with a Gleeful Mornings contest with Canwest and Fox Home Entertainment that is linked to the hit TV show Glee. The contest, open now to November 3, 2010, gives consumers a chance to win a trip for four to FOX Studios in California to visit the Glee set. To enter, Canadians must submit pictures or videos online showing how they/or their families have fun in the mornings. The entry with the most votes, after a public vote, is eligible to win the prize. See official contest rules posted on www.gleefulmornings.com for complete details.
