New Regional Tourism Organization Names inaugural Board of Directors
THE HILLS OF HEADWATERS, YORK REGION AND REGION OF DURHAM, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - The inaugural Board of Directors for the new Regional Tourism Organization (RTO) in Zone 6 (York Region/Durham Region/The Hills of Headwaters) has been chosen by an independent evaluation committee, following an extensive 6 week public nomination process conducted this Fall.
According to Michael Hackenberger, Chair of the transition team that guided the incorporation of the new not-for-profit organization, "The new Board represents the diverse geographies, sectors and interests of Zone 6 and is comprised of strong, experienced leaders who share the RTO 6 vision of building economic, social, cultural and environmentally sustainable tourism across the whole region."
The Zone 6 RTO board is comprised of 13 volunteer directors representing the region's key tourism sectors and interests, and 3 ex-officio directors representing the York Region, Durham Region and The Hills of Headwaters tourism organizations.

Following its first meeting in November, the Board will be reaching out to partners and stakeholders across the zone through its strategic planning process, industry communication and volunteer engagement programs.
