New Regional Tourism Organization Seeks Nominations for Board
THE HILLS OF HEADWATERS, YORK REGION AND REGION OF DURHAM, Aug. 24 /CNW/ - Representatives of tourism marketing agencies from across the newly created tourism Zone 6 are working in concert with the Ontario Ministry of Tourism and Culture to establish a new organization whose mandate will be to provide collaborative direction to the region's tourism marketing, investment and workforce development efforts.
Zone 6 Regional Tourism Organization (RTO) will serve the tourism industry in the regions of The Hills of Headwaters (Dufferin County/Town of Caledon/Town of Erin), York and Durham. The organization will be financed by the Ministry, with initial funding in excess of $2 million per annum.
A transition team is overseeing the incorporation of a new not-for-profit organization under a representative and industry led board of directors. This process will be completed in September 2010.
Nominations for the Zone 6 RTO board, which will be comprised of 13 volunteer directors who will represent the region's key tourism sectors and interests, are now being accepted.
Details about how the new board will be structured, the nomination process, and much more information can be found on the transition web site at www.rto6transition.ca.
Industry leaders and stakeholders are encouraged to come forward and avail themselves of this opportunity to help further the interests of tourism as a vital contributor to our regional and local economies.
