New Royal Agricultural Winter Fair video includes footage not seen in more than five decades
Compilation of images and film date back to the very first Royal
TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2017 /CNW/ - This year marks the 95th anniversary of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and to commemorate the occasion, organizers were thrilled to share a new video composed of rare archived film and still photography that date back to 1922 when the Royal opened its doors for the first time ever.
The grainy images reproduced from archived 16mm film and black and white photos feature fair-goers dressed in their finest alongside the country's prized examples of cattle and horses. The video serves as a visual time capsule that winds its way through nine decades of The Royal's history as a unifying national event and largest combined indoor agricultural and equestrian event in the world.
"We constantly talk about the history of The Royal but it's an entirely new experience to see it all unfold on screen," said Charlie Johnstone, Chief Executive Officer, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. "Some of the footage has been locked away for fifty years and I'm so happy that it's now available to the public. We're fortunate to have the technology to reproduce and share such an interesting glimpse of the rich tradition that has taken place right here in Toronto."
The new video was uploaded to The Royal's YouTube channel and can be viewed here.
