New Trading Records Set on TSX Venture Exchange and the Montréal Exchange
More than one billion shares trade on TMX Group equity exchanges
TORONTO, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - TMX Group Inc. today announced that the Montréal Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange established new trading records yesterday, November 4, 2010.
On TSX Venture Exchange, daily volume traded was 422,632,123, which exceeded the previous record of 422,028,135 set on October 13, 2010. Yesterday, combined trading volume on Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange exceeded a billion shares, at 1,089,590,431.
On the Montréal Exchange, a record level of 166,876 equity option contracts traded yesterday. The previous equity option record, totaling 156,120, was established on September 29, 2008. The Montréal Exchange's trading volume for October 2010 reached 1,562,296 contracts, setting a new record for monthly equity option volume and exceeding the previous record of 1,538,440 contracts set in October 2008.
