New Travel Guide for Ontario Wine Country Available
Local wines are closer than you think
NIAGARA, ON, June 3 /CNW/ - Exploring and discovering our own province's local wine regions has never been so easy and fun thanks to the new 2010 Wine Country Ontario Official Travel Guide which offers extensive information and tips on the best hidden treasures including regional cuisine, picturesque settings and world class wines - all so close to home.
This year's guide includes 84 winery properties from five great destinations - Lake Erie North Shore & Pelee Island, Niagara Escarpment & area, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto & York Region and Prince Edward County & area. An easy-to-use pull-out Wine Route Map along with an overview of each winery makes the Guide one of the most popular tools for travelers wishing to experience Ontario wine country first hand.
"The new Wine Country Ontario Travel Guide is better than ever and a must-have for touring our province's wine regions," says Ed Madronich, Chair of the Wine Council of Ontario.
"We know that it is when people visit wine country that this is where they begin to fall in love with Ontario wines. Whether you are a first-time visitor or a seasoned traveler to the regions, the guide offers valuable tips, beautiful imagery and clear directions to some of the newest wineries in Ontario," added Madronich.
Throughout the year, copies of the guide will be available at wineries, the LCBO and key travel centres throughout Ontario. In May, it was distributed in major newspapers including the Globe and Mail and the Windsor Star and many will receive it in their copy of Food & Drink magazine. The Wine Route Map will be included in the July issue of Toronto Life. Consumers can also order a free copy of the guide by calling 1-800-ONTARIO or you can download a version at www.winesofontario.ca.
The Wine Council of Ontario is a non-profit trade association that represents 72 wineries from Ontario. Ontario has four wine regions - Lake Erie North Shore, Niagara Peninsula, Pelee Island and Prince Edward Country.
