New VisionTV series Crazy for Love shows how Canadian couples are making
mixed marriages work

TORONTO , Jan. 19 /CNW/ - Can love really conquer all?

In a country as diverse as Canada , marriages between people of different cultures and faiths are increasingly common. According to Statistics Canada , the number of mixed-race couples in this country has grown by more than 30 percent since 2001. A recent study showed that more than 90 percent of Canadians are now accepting of such unions.

But it's still not easy for mixed couples to make it to the altar.

Crazy for Love, an engaging new documentary series from VisionTV looks at what happens when two people from different cultural and religious backgrounds fall in love. The 13-part series airs on Tuesdays, starting Feb. 9 , at 10:30 p.m. ET / 7:30 p.m. PT .

While public attitudes toward mixed marriages have changed for the better, many couples still find themselves dealing with serious challenges when they try to unite differing cultural traditions and belief systems. Add in all the usual headaches that come with planning a wedding, and you've got a recipe for drama.

Each episode of Crazy for Love follows one couple down the road to matrimony and shows how they deal with a host of obstacles - from geographic and language barriers, to conflict between families, to the reconciling of marriage rites and traditions.

Honest, heartfelt and occasionally hilarious, Crazy for Love reveals the new face of romance in 21st century Canada , and reminds us that love, in the end, is the true universal language.
