NEWS ADVISORY - Union leaders appear at hearing on Montebello summit
MONTREAL, Nov. 3 /CNW/ - Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union President Dave Coles and Secretary-Treasurer Gaétan Ménard are appearing at the Quebec Police Ethics hearing in Montreal today. The committee is investigating the police operation at the "Security and Prosperity Partnership" summit at Montebello, Québec in 2007.
The hearing begins at 9:30 am at 500 Rene-Levesque West, 6th Floor, Room #1. It is expected to last for two days.
Coles had unmasked three police officers posing as protesters at the summit, one with a rock in his hand. He wants to force the committee to reveal who ordered police officers to instigate violence among the protesters at the summit. Earlier this summer, CEP had argued for standing at the hearing.
The CEP officers were subpoenaed to appear along with some CEP members and staff. The police officers who posed as protesters have also been cited to appear before the committee.
