TORONTO, April 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The Asthma Society of Canada, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, is holding an awards dinner and summit in Toronto on April 30th and May 1st, 2014, bringing together leaders and experts to look closely at the connections between asthma and respiratory allergies in Canada and the environment and health — particularly air quality and lung health.
The Summit will provide a forum for open, honest — and sometimes controversial — dialogue. More than 3.2 million Canadians have asthma — nearly one in 10 Canadians. In the age of climate change, new research is showing a stronger connection than previously understood between asthma, allergies and air pollution and other environmental issues.
Keynote speaker on May 1, 2014 will be the Hon. Leona Aglukkaq, Canada's Minister of the Environment.
Innovation Awards will also be presented on April 30 to key Canadian and international leaders helping improve the lives of people with asthma and for better air quality.
